Wendy Friedman

Background

Wendy is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist trained in both Public Health and Family Therapy. She received her Public Health training at Yale University School of Medicine where she first learned about the newly emerging field of Family Therapy.  Many years later she studied Family Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Her clinical training was conducted at the prestigious Council For Relationships. The Council is one of the oldest martial /relationship training programs in the country.

She employs a non-judgmental experiential approach integrating the most effective ways to help individuals, couples and families reach their goals. She listens carefully, tries to connect, and responds to each persons' specific needs. She has extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, proven and considered the most successful approach to creating loving relationships endorsed by the American Psychological Association. She also has additional training in  Encountered-Centered Therapy and the Gottman Method. She searched the Couple’s Therapy field hoping to offer her clients the best in evidence-based practice.

For many years Wendy was associated with Jewish Community Services of South Florida. As a clinician, she worked with many individuals, couples, and families presenting with all types of situations. During her tenure at the Jewish Community services, she also functioned as the bereavement counselor. In that capacity she facilitated weekly bereavement groups. Consequently she worked extensively with the bereaved population and helped hundreds of people heal from their loss. She is comfortable helping people traversing this very difficult life passage, honoring their loss, and creating new meaningful lives.
