About Jeff Friedman, PhD, LCSW
I’m a therapist based in Coral Gables with over 15 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. I specialize in men’s therapy, couples therapy, relationship issues, and helping people understand the emotional and relational patterns that keep repeating in their lives.
Most of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and used to handling things themselves. But when it comes to relationships, confidence, anxiety, anger, or patterns that feel difficult to change, insight alone isn’t always enough.
Therapy gives us a place to understand what’s happening beneath the surface, explore how past experiences may be shaping the present, and begin making practical changes in the areas that matter most.
Availability: I provide in-person therapy in Coral Gables and virtual therapy via telehealth for clients across Florida, New York, Alabama, Washington, Ohio and Texas.

My Specialties
My Approach
I don’t believe in taking a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Instead, I work collaboratively with you to understand what is actually happening beneath the surface, how your past experiences may be influencing your present, and which patterns are keeping you stuck.
From there, we focus on making practical, meaningful changes in your relationships, work, and the way you see yourself.
My approach draws from Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, CBT, Contextual Therapy, Bowenian Family Systems Theory, and Structural Family Therapy.
With couples, I help partners work through concerns such as conflict, infidelity, and emotional disconnection. With individuals, our work may focus on relationships, career pressure, identity, anxiety, anger, self-esteem, or the impact of earlier experiences.
My goal is not simply to help you understand your patterns, but to help you use that understanding to create meaningful change.
My Background
I earned my PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, where my doctoral research focused on resilience in individuals with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
Before completing my doctorate, I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Widener University in Philadelphia. I also trained at The Council for Relationships, a postgraduate training institute for couples and family therapy affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University.
Over the past 15+ years, I’ve worked in both inpatient settings and private practice, helping individuals, couples, and families navigate complex emotional and relational challenges.
I’m also passionate about increasing awareness of the effects of childhood trauma and creating space for survivors to tell their stories. I explore these topics through my Trauma-Informed Podcast.
