Jeff
Friedman, PhD LCSW
Therapist in Coral Gables specializing in men’s therapy, couples therapy, and relationship issues.
Most of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and used to handling things themselves. But when it comes to relationships, confidence, or patterns that keep repeating, insight alone isn’t always enough.
That’s where I come in.
My Approach
I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.
Instead, I work collaboratively with you to understand:
What’s actually happening beneath the surface
How your past experiences are shaping your present
What patterns are keeping you stuck
From there, we focus on making practical, meaningful changes in the areas that matter most: relationships, work, and how you see yourself.
My work draws from:
Narrative therapy (how your story shapes your experience)
Solution-focused therapy (what’s already working)
Gottman and emotionally focused therapy (for couples)
Who I Work With
I provide in-person therapy in Coral Gables for:
Men navigating relationships, career pressure, and identity
Individuals dealing with anxiety, anger, or low self-esteem
Couples working through conflict, infidelity, or disconnection
Teens (13+) and young adults facing stress, family conflict, or life transitions
Many of my clients come from Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, and the greater Miami area, including professionals and University of Miami students. I also provide therapy via tele-health for individuals throughout Florida and in Washington, Texas, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.
Insurance & Payment
Friedman Family Therapy is a private pay practice. I also accept select commercial insurance plans and am an in-network provider with Modern Health EAP.
Background & Training
I earned my PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, where my doctoral research focused on resilience in individuals with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
Before that, I completed my Master’s in Social Work at Widener University in Philadelphia.
I also trained at The Council for Relationships, one of the most respected postgraduate training institutes for couples and family therapy, affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University.
Over the past 15+ years, I’ve worked in both inpatient settings and private practice, helping individuals, couples, and families navigate complex emotional and relational challenges.
